We're Hosting Our Third Clean Up

Save the date: This Saturday: 04/01/2017 from 8am to 12pm. We're providing everyone in the Midtown Area a dumpster to rid themselves of any large trash that will not fit in the trash cans. Look for it at 15th and Gundry. See the attached flyer for more details. We'll be cleaning up Gundry. And a little later that day, Litter Free Long Beach will stop by to pick up any e-waste. That's tires and those things with a cord you have no idea what to do with. This service is provided free by the Neighborhood Service Center. If you'd like to host future clean ups please PM me. The more hosts with have in the Midtown area [PCH to Anaheim/ Cherry to Alamitos] the more often we can do this. We will be providing generous refreshments to all the volunteers.

First Clean Up of 2015: Gundry PCH to 15th Done

This morning we had our first neighborhood clean up of 2016 along Gun dry from PCH to 15th is finished. I will say Gundry was very well kept. At least one alleyway looked very well maintained. We will get 15th to Anaheim soon and be partnering with Wrigley to clean Chestnut from 23rd heading towards Willow tomorrow at 8am.

Also, don't forget the City Wide Breakfast will be held at 1744 Gaviota, on 02/20/2016. All the neighborhood is invited. #SupportJosephine

Unannounced Clean Up Gardenia PCH to Anahiem

There was an unannounced clean up of Gardenia from PCH to 14th street. Gardenia is never that bad. At least one young kid asked me on the clean up, "Why do you have to do this?" I answered, "I don't have to; I chose to."

The second picture is of one of two damaged storm drains at PCH and Anaheim. I wonder if I took an inventory of all the damaged storm drains in our neighborhood, how many I would find that need to be fixed, especially by major intersections like PCH or Anaheim.

Alleyway Beautification: Phase One

Sundays will begin the Alleyway Beautification Project. Today, we removed a lot of weeds from this alley nearest the carnceria on 1732 15th street. Each Sunday we will remove a little more. After that, we'll do something really impressive.
