Neighborhood cleanups in 2016 happen almost every Saturday at 8am. However, I realize not everyone is available on Saturday. So, a simpler way to stay involved was added. Residents are encouraged to take this simple neighborhood pledge, to keep the MacArthur Park Neighborhood clean and safe. The following Sunday there will be a clean up in abother neighborhood in support of a safer/ cleaner Central Long Beach.

Everyone is welcome to join in. To help make that more likely, I am doing these clean ups on Saturdays between 10am and noon. Just meet where the clean up starts. Every thing will be provided and I will handle finding a place to drop off the trash.
Material Provided: Four 32 rolling gallon trash cans, gloves, trash bags, brooms, bottled water and four aluminum claw grips. The trash cans can be stacked. If at least four volunteers show up they are simply unstacked. Two are started at the start point on opposite sides of the street, the other two are placed halfway to the end point on opposite sides of the street.
If more people join in I can get the city to provide larger dumpsters to get rid of some of the bigger trash nobody has room for in their weekly cans.
Until more volunteers can be found, we are currently using 32 gallon trash cans that can be stacked together. The following items are provided: gloves, bottled water, trash bags and that unnamed device that lets you pick up trash without bending over.
Every now and then an unofficial clean up will happen early on Sunday as well.
The map below shows the streets covered, the date they were cleaned and the start point.
Double lines mean the street has been cleaned twice.
