note these maps are meant to show which direction crime is trending,
areas to keep an extra eye on and places to remain vigilant in order for
Central Long Beach residents to remain safe. That said, previous trends
don't guarantee future trends will repeat in the same direction and
patterns. Also, an absence of crime in one area, does not guarantee an
absence in that same area later on. as well.
We are beginning a series of community walks through the MacArthur Park Neighborhood. They will take place after 10pm and focus on those areas that currently need the most attention. There will be at least three community walks a week, two during the weekdays and one on the weekend.Tonight's walk saw reduced loitering in the alley behind Anaheim, but the plaza at Walnut and Anaheim is still an issue.
First, neighborhood crime has tapered down, but not far enough. The pattern this week was varied and unpredictable. It does seem robberies, thefts and property crime are trending down the streets of Gaviota and Walbut. Please be extra careful in this area, especially since the police saw fit to put cameras at 14th and Gaviota; clearly something is happening in that area.
Moreover, police are also investigating a non-injury shooting that happened on Long
Beach’s Eastside neighborhood Wednesday night.
Officers were dispatched to Walnut Avenue and Anaheim Street at about
9:45PM on Wednesday, October 21 in regards to a shots heard call, Long

Also notice assaults are trending down Cherry. Be especially careful on Cherry after 8pm and in both mentioned areas around 5am.
There is crime cluster south east of the MacArthur Park Neighborhood. Everything happening there is not trending in any particular direction, so be very cautious around Junipero and Anaheim where it leads into our neighborhood. A lot of the marks on the board above took place on a Sunday, especially the ones close to Rotary Centenial Park, so keep an extra eye open on Sundays.
Finally there were two other shootings out of our neighborhood. One was at MLK and 20th. The other was a fatal shooting at 20th and Magnolia.
A man was shot to death early Monday morning in the 2000 block of Magnolia Avenue, authorities said.
Long Beach police said the victim, identified as 25-year-old William Tyshoen Davis, was wounded in the upper body.

Beach Fire Department paramedics responded and took Davis, who was in
critical condition, to a local hospital where he later died, police said

MacArthur Park will be supporting the community of Wrigley in every manner possible. We will be reporting all tagging and dumped items a long 20th Street in response in an extra Go Long Beach run this weekend.
Community Meetings
There will be a community meeting for District Six on Tuesday October 27th at Mark Twain
Neighborhood Library. 6pm. The topic will center on public safety including gang activity.
Robert Smith and his staff will host the West Division Leadership Forum
Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at 6:00pm. The new location will be 1129
Alamitos, at the Grant AME Church There will be a presentation on human
trafficking and a Code Enforcement overview.
While the outside declares this a French Bakery, and there
are a lot of breads, the main attraction is clearly the premade meals.
Most of those meals, while not necessarily Cambodian, are of an Asian flavor. Know in advance the Lily Kim Bakery does not accept credit cards, so you will
have to bring cash. $10 is more than enough for a decent meal here.
Generally speaking within the Aspara Plaza on Alamitos and Anahiem, the Lily Kim Bakery is probably the most popular attraction. The family owned store features a counter of plates of pre-made meals to go, neatly wrapped in saran wrap. The prices of the food range from $2.50 to a high of about $6.50, and $6.50 gets you a lot of food. They also have all the usual drinks you would find at a 7-11, an equally expansive rack of chips and an impressive smoothie menu that will run you about $2.50.
The food, is good, I wouldn't rate it as exceptional. Here's the main reason: everything is served cold. That means, the Lily Kim Restaurant is probably better suited as a take out store, than it suits dining in. .That is reinforced by the fact there are only two tables and no outside seating. I was there at a time that wasn't busy and you had to join an occupied table to sit down.
The restaurant itself is usually pretty packed around breakfast and lunch time, but since most everything is made in advance service is still very quick. And the person behind the counter was very friendly and helpful when I asked about different dishes. Cleanliness could have used a little work, but I think that was partly because I showed up later in the day. The venue could add a star just by giving customers access to a microwave to heat the food up when you're eating in.
In terms of overall expectations, quality may not be up to par, but it's about the best you will get in the area at that price. I haven't seen an entire meal for $2.50 in years. Three stars seems unfair, since they clearly are trying to make the best impression on their customers; and four is too generous because there are some very simple issues, that could very easily be cleaned up.

A lot of people are pushing for some improvements along the Anaheim
Corridor. It looks like the community garden and a version of a farmers
market to increase pedestrian activity in the area are probably going to
happen. The night market, which runs from 4pm to 9pm, looks like it

You are also highly encouraged to attend a community meeting to be hosted
by Councilman Dee Andrews on Thursday July 9, 2015 6:00-7:00 pm, at Mark
Twain Library. The Councilman will make a public announcement about a
new community garden and a night market in the heart of Cambodia Town.
